In this expositional teaching of 1st John chapter 1, I did a verse by verse exegetical teaching on the Scriptures.
1 John Chapter 1: Sorry for the abrupt / chopped up beginning, but after uploading, I decided to trim / edit 18-minutes off the beginning. My intro was too chatty. This teaching will include (but is not limited to) Gnosticism, Biblical fellowship, ecumenicalism, religious pluralism, false converts, the assurance of salvation. The false doctrine known as sinless perfectionism (two different forms of it), unbiblical soteriology’s, being unequally yoked, and the Biblical meaning of confessing our sins to Jesus Christ. This message is also available on video here.
1 John Chapter 2:1-14: This expositional teaching will include (but is not limited to) the doctrine of substitutionary atonement, loving our enemies (I share about one of my police shootings). Another refute of easy-believism, several more Biblical ‘tests’ to see if you are in the faith. Biblical love vs an unbiblical love, the spiritual state of the three people groups, the Biblical way to ‘keep’ Gods commandments, what is a Biblical ‘alien’ in this cosmos. Avoiding divisive ‘isms and schisms,’ the “many” believers that will perish, false converts, and to not be too denominationally minded. Side note: The story about the stripper was on the ‘outside’ of a gentlemen’s club, not on the inside. This message is also available on video here.
1 John chapter 2:15-29: This expositional teaching will include (but is not limited to), the ‘world system,’ worldliness and sensuality inside that building we call “church” (i.e. sensual lip and breast augmentations.) A video of a pastor’s wife rebuking their congregation for sensuality in their church. The deceptions of today’s antichrists, the forerunners of the Antichrist; and how the Romney campaign brought forth more apostasy. Abiding in the truth, and living a righteous life. This message is also available on video here.
1 John Chapter 3:1-9: This expositional teaching will include (but is not limited to), being impregnated with the Lords Incorruptible Seed (sperma), the born-again believers new identity, our hope for the Lords return, the Christians incompatibility with sin, the Greek transliterations that better explain sin in our life (and not in our life), another test to see if you are in the faith, the importance of preaching the Gospel, more refutes of sinless perfectionism, and briefly the doctrines of glorification, justification, regeneration, original sin, and sanctification. This message is also available on video here.
1 John Chapter 3:10-24: This expositional teaching of 1 John chapter 3:10-24 includes (but is not limited to), a Biblical love vs an unbiblical love. A lack of love, and an outworking of love. What does the Bible say about sharing our “goods” with others? Many more evidences of salvation, and how God answers our prayers. This message is only available on video here.
1 John Chapter 4:1-6: This expositional teaching includes (but is not limited to), the testing of the spirits, warnings of false teachers & teachings, warnings of false prophets, and when division can be good. Also how Gnostics, cults, and other ‘spirits of the antichrist’ are dangerous for mans soul. This message is also available on video here.
1 John Chapter 4:7-21: This expositional teaching of 1 John chapter 4:7-21 includes a Biblical love vs a counterfeit love, knowing God through love, seeing God through love, the consummation of love, and obedience by faith. This message is also available on video here.
1 John Chapter 5:1-13: This expositional teaching of 1 John chapter 5:1-13 includes but is not limited to. The assurance of victory thru Christ, the witnesses & jurisprudence of the incarnation of Christ. More verses to refute easy-believism, and warnings of false converts. Another verse to use as a ‘test’ to see if you are in the faith. Why ‘keeping Gods commandments’ will not be difficult, and more on Biblical love. This message is available on video here.
1 John Chapter 5:14-21: This last and final expositional teaching of 1st John (chapter 5:14-21) includes but is not limited to, an LAPD response to a domestic violence / suicide call, playing Russian roulette or ‘Christian roulette’ with our sin(s) (according to a Google search, it looks like I coined that phrase, but I did learned there is a man bearing that exact name). Confidence in Christ, compassion in prayer, praying for Gods will, not our will; and how sin hinders our prayer. Refuting the false teaching that ‘all sin is as equal as all other sins,’ and when God stops a man’s heart. Knowing the truth, rejecting the false. Trusting in the Lord with the modern day imprisonment of Christians. Professed Christians that have not parrésia, and that are ashamed of, and/or embarrassed of the public preaching of the Gospel. When God allows Satan to harm a Christian. Not letting discouragers within your own fellowship discourage you. And growing in Christ, and knowing Christ more.
