I was once admonished by a previous pastor at a previous church, that it is wrong to post anything negative about reformed churches, and/or the postmodern reformed movement. In other words, I was being told to be quiet. The problem is, his request was not Biblical. Though it was my desire to be Biblically submissive and accountable to the pastor(s) I am under, but I refused to compromise while belonging to the ‘good old boy’ club. I’d rather be a God pleaser, than a man pleaser. Truly saved Christians are bond slaves to Christ, and we were bought with a price. In other words, a bond slave will be sold-out to the Lord, not a sell-out to this young and restless reformed movement (1 Cor. 7:23, Eph 6:6, Col 3:24, 1 Pet 2:16).
In 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 Paul said, ‘But actually, I wrote to you not to
associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous,
or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with
such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge
those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges.
Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.’
In other words, it is Biblical to judge those that claim the name of Christ, rather than those out in the world. Therefore I believe it is a Biblical principle to judge those that claim to behold to our own set of doctrines (1689 LBCF).
Jesus said in Matthew 7:4-5, ‘Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.’
Jesus told us to judge, as long as we did not judge hypocritically. In other words, I mustn’t have a log in my own eye, while I only judge the Joel Osteens, Rick Warrens, or Andy Stanley’s of the world; all the while there’s lawlessness amongst fellow reformers.
Proverbs 27:5 says ‘Better is open rebuke. Than love that is concealed.’
Proverbs 31:9 says ‘Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the
rights of the afflicted and needy.’
Matthew 18:15 says “Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee,
go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee,
thou hast gained thy brother.” (so many of them have been rebuked in private).
John 7:24 says “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
1 Corinthians 2:15 says, “The spiritual person judges all things, but is
himself to be judged by no one.”
2 Timothy 3:16 says “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
Having said that, unashamedly I am orthodox reformed, and am a member of a reformed church, where we maintain a full subscription of our 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. And so when I see public articles about elders and pastors like this, I am compelled to say something against it. A little leaven lumps the whole lump, and these elders are infecting the entire 1689 movement with their sinister transmittable leaven. Therefore I will now say this. These men are beyond being mere carnal men whom are Biblically disqualified to be elders. I believe they are Satan’s minions, literal wolves in sheep’s clothing, and should be treated as such.
As my valued friend Dr. Sonny Hernandez said,
“New-Calvinism is a worldview that is underscored by childish conceits and worldly delusions. It is a “wannabe” Reformed movement that is laced with syncretistic concepts. Acolytes of this faddish movement are basically “Calvinistic Rick Warren’s” that are infatuated with the “Purpose Driven Hipster Life.” New-Calvinists have superstitiously invented clever ways that will allow them to enjoy their profligate life-styles and promote their gimmicks to make the gospel attractive to their audience. This is why I have habitually argued that New-Calvinism is a worldview that is adulterated with trifling ideas and despicable inventions. It is a bastardization of the Christian faith.
New Calvinist proselytes are not amicable toward men that chide and expose their bastardized schemes. These young, restless and wannabee reformed profligates will desperately try to extenuate their worldliness. They will severally reprehend their opponents with a barrage of allegations, or they will chastise them with sardonic comments. It is not uncommon for New Calvinists to aggressively revile their opponents by crying “legalist,” “teetotaler,” “judgmental,” “slander” and “unloving.” And they will accost all publications that threaten their popularity as yellow-journalism, or “hit-pieces” that are scurrilous.
My prayer is that every New-Calvinist worldling will grow up. But realistically, the probability of that transpiring is not very high. After all, the most popular hip-hop musicians, rap moguls, sports celebrities, and movie stars that are treasured by their fans are the ones that boast about their liberties and flaunt them for the world to see. It’s a shame that New-Calvinists will imitate them, and not Christ.”
And now the article.
