While it’s true that Washers message is not about the ‘emergent church movement,’ but it surely is the opposite of emergent. He’s correct in saying that most of those sitting there, had never heard a preacher preach as he did. Why not? Because most churches in America have become emergent.
Since the year 2000, I’ve been sounding the horn, and banging the drums, warning of this unbiblical emergent church movement. However (in my own ignorance,) I learned just this week, that it’s much worse than I thought.
This week in my post-graduate studies, my current course is on the “emerging church” movement. My assigned textbook is “Becoming Conversant with the Emerging Church,” by D.A. Carson.
Now that I’m studying this movement, more thoroughly through this course; I now realize that my bar was too low. This emergent cancer is worse than I ever thought. Fact is, I now believe that the majority of churches in America (specifically California,) are in fact emergent. This would have to mean, that the majority of Christians (or non-saved ‘believers’) are also emergent.
In the below message, Paul Washer teaches the ‘whole council of the Word of God.’ Which includes the wrath of God, the love of God, and even the hatred of God.
If you’d rather go to church to hear funny jokes, fictional stories, or contemporary sermons; then do not watch this video. If you desire to grow in Christ, in addition to diligently studying the Word of God; then one of the preachers I recommend listening to is Paul Washer of HeartCry Missionary Society. Paul Washer, you’ve been tagged (again.) More in comments below.
