Pastor Loran Livingston rebukes church over politics and the ‘God bless the USA Bible’

In the below video (a sermon excerpt), Pastor Loran Livingston of Central Church Charlotte, NC gives a scathing rebuke of the political idolatry that has infected evangelicalism.

Evidently, this new ‘God bless the USA bible’ created by Lee Greenwood, and promoted and endorsed by former president Trump, includes secular ecumenical documents alongside the Holy Scriptures. They are,

·The chorus to “God Bless The USA” by Greenwood
·The US Constitution
·The Bill of Rights
·The Declaration of Independence
·The Pledge of Allegiance
·The US flag on the front cover.

Though we do benefit from the Constitution and Bill of Rights. All of the above are contra Scriptura, and oftentimes idolatrous! Just for starts, including but not limited to.

The song “God Bless the USA.” According to the world’s standards, this song is wonderfully patriotic. But according to the Scriptures (which it’s published next to), it is full of pride, sin, and idolatry. It gives glory to man and the flag, rather than to God.

While skipping through many other issues.

The First Amendment sinfully places all religions and their false Gods equal to Christianity and the God of the Bible. It’s the First Amendment that gives homosexuals the “right” to blaspheme the Lord by hijacking His rainbow.

While skipping through many other issues.

The Declaration of Independence is where feminists get their equality mantra. Though the original document stated, “All men are created equal.” Liberals and feminists have translated that to mean “all men and women are created equal.” The problem is the “men and women” interpretation is contra Scriptura.

As I’ve said before. Though men are not better than women, and yes, we are created equal in God’s image; we are unequally different. Including but not limited to, women being different in anthropology, biology, genetics, neurobiology, sexually, and sociologically. But more importantly, we are different Theologically. To say otherwise is to go against God’s Divine order of creation. Ironically, Trump is a proponent of homosexuality and feminism.

Nonetheless, it is theological malpractice to receive our instruction from a secular document, as our ways of practice in ecclesiology, sexuality, or theology; rather than from the Scriptures (Rom 15:4, 2 Tim 3:16). And anytime the Constitution contradicts or goes against the Scriptures, we must obey the Scriptures. We must think more like Christians, and less-like Americans, lest the Constitution or “our rights” become idolatry.

While fast-forwarding through many other issues.

The US flag. America has become a melting pot of ecumenicalism and diversity, which has legislated sin and lawlessness from her highest levels of legislative jurisprudence. And so, the older I am in Christ, the less I desire to be united with the “United States of America.” And I pledge my allegiance to Christ alone, no longer to that flag.

Therefore, the above should not be published along side the Scriptures in a Bible.

Lastly, this Bible is “the only Bible endorsed by Trump” (as confirmed in the FAQ area). But what else should we expect from the world.

As you watch the below pastor rebuke his congregation over politics, and this political Bible. Do consider this article “The error of getting entangled in politics” by Professor Michael Haykin.
