Background: On August 12th, 1967, the infamous McNairy County, Tennessee, Sheriff Buford Pusser was enroute to a radio call close to the Mississippi Stateline. On that fateful evening, his wife, Pauline Pusser, was on a ride along with him. According to Sheriff Pusser, they were ambushed by unknown suspect(s), and both were struck by gunfire.
