How to Cultivate a Masculine Culture in Your Church, a Snake on the Table podcast

For decades, I’ve warned about our masculinity crisis in America, especially in the so-called Church. Today, the below podcast by Snake on the Table is even more needed. I agree with the following points.

  • A church must not prevent men from being men by having unbiblical teachings and expectations of unbiblical kindness and gentleness.
  • A church should be on the offense. I call that making the church militant again.
  • Their men must “go out to war” in confrontational evangelism.
  • Their singing (or worship) up front are all men, not women, and the singing of Psalms is preferred.
  • Men lead their homeschooling co-op.
  • Men are not merely expected to be masculine, they are “required” to be masculine.
  • Men are encouraged to “debate.”
  • They require their Pastors to be bi-vocational. They require their Pastors to be bi-vocational. They don’t want them to worry about losing their job if they were to preach boldly and correctly. They also mentioned pastors who live in a church’s parsonage might be more likely to fear losing their income and place of residence; hence causing them to compromise. Although I’ve seen a downside to a bi-vocational pastor. He had a day job that required approximately 60 hours a week of his time. Other than the Lord’s Day and a brief weekly prayer meeting, he had no time for his church. And obviously not enough time to labor in his sermon preparation.
  • All roles in the church should be men only.
  • Churches should not be congregational led but led only by the “plurality” of elders (according to the Scriptures).
  • No small group of men have a monopoly on sharing their gifts in the church, so they train other men to use their gifts (albeit their pulpits are still guarded).
  • Women are silent in the church.
  • Open Air Preaching is for men only.
  • Train all men to be theologians in their homes, communities, and churches.
  • Men are called to “lead, provide, and protect.” I call it the Three P’s, be the Pastor Protector, and Provider (A side note: Retirement counts as a Provider).
  • Men are to exhibit strength, courage, and a warrior mindset.

Enjoy the below podcast, let’s make masculinity great again.
