My first speeding ticket in decades – dashcam footage
I made a podcast about this. But after reviewing my unnecessary rambling, I trashed that intro. However, at the end of this dashcam footage, you will see an applicable thumbnail to a video I made years ago about the epiphany I had as a policeman, about traffic citations. The Three E’s of traffic enforcement, Education, Enforcement & Engineering, and how traffic enforcement has become more about taxation by traffic citation. Although I have nothing bad to say about this policeman, I do appreciate his service.
He cited me for going 47MPH in a 30MPH zone. My only excuse is that the speed limit changes too frequently on this highway, and the darkness made it difficult to see the signage. As he handed me my notice to appear, I handed him his notice to appear. Two Gospel tracts for him and his beat partner.
Though my court appearance wasn’t until May. A few days ago, a wonderful lady from the courts called, letting me know that since COVID, their judge no longer makes people appear for speeding tickets if they were not going 20MPH over the speed limit. She instructed me to pay online, and I did so. This little town is so quaint, having a Mayberry RFD feel to it, I almost wish I had to appear in May, and yes, distribute more Gospel tracts.
Though nobody likes getting traffic tickets. The bottom line is. The Lord ordained the steps of this policeman to stop me. I rejoice in the opportunity to share the Law and Gospel with Lawmen. I am thankful for the humbling experience. And now being on a fixed income. I’m thankful this will not go on my record, which would have increased our insurance.
