Dr. Steven Lawson’s sermon preached at the 2019 G3 Conference – Session 16 (how did such a wonderful sermon end so tragically?)
We live in a time when a majority of professing Christians and local churches from all denominations have devalued Biblical masculine preaching. Instead, they prefer sermonettes, gentle sharing, a soft tone, mutually cooperative debates, casual conversationalism, and/or the use of other methods that are only secondary to true bold preaching (or methods that shouldn’t be used at all).
But in this sermon, at the 2019 G3 Conference, Dr. Steve Lawson gives a scathing rebuke to those who do not preach as they should. Albeit I appreciated that part. Nevertheless, I was surprised by how he closed it at the end. How did such a sermon end so tragically?
Though everyone errs (me included), and sometimes if we’re not careful, we can become overcritical. But I listened to the end of this sermon ‘over and over’ many times. From timestamp 52:10 to 54:41, Lawson no doubt wrongfully taught a ‘decisional regeneration,’ even a universal atonement.
More specifically, at timestamp 52:20 Lawson stated, “and there are still those among us here today, who have never made the decision to commit your life to Jesus Christ.” At 53:51, he says, “If you have never, as an act of your will, made this decision to cross the line, to enter the narrow gate…” At 54:19 he says, “Your spouse cannot make this decision for you. Your friends cannot make this decision for you. Your parents cannot make this decision for you. Even God cannot make this decision…”
Yes, Lawson is a good expositor. But to be frank, he sounded like the heretical Billy Graham at the end. Within the aforementioned timeframe, Lawson mentions the word “decision” six times. His gross synergism, decisional regeneration, and ‘well-meant offer’ were an unpleasant surprise, which attenuated his entire sermon.
Brethren, the Doctrines of Grace as well as other essential Doctrines misplaced here, such as Predestination and God’s Decree, mustn’t be negotiated, nor compromised. Therefore, we must contend for them and remain steadfast upon them. I pray that Dr. Lawson repents from this serious error. Only by the grace of God, so go I…
Update 10/24/24: G3 Ministries just made this video “private” on their channel. Therefore, I uploaded it to Rumble here or embedded below. G3 has retaliated against me in the past by filing a complaint with YouTube, so I am prepared for that here too.

Sad news. Today Lawson was terminated for an “inappropriate relationship” with another woman.
Several Pastors with G3 Ministries tender their resignation: I’ve been a public opponent of G3 Ministries for a while, as well as other parachurch ministries. And so, this does not surprise me. Dissolving G3 was a wise move. Run from parachurch ministries and their conference circuits. Flee to Christ and your local church.

With the online chatter about Steve Lawson putting himself back into the limelight with his new book, I wanted to share this and repost my blog post from 2019. In that post below, I warned of Lawson’s heretical decisional regeneration and universal atonement. Most recently, after giving a lady a gospel tract, she asked, “What made you decide to become a Christian?“ I’ve been asked that before, and my answer was not always as direct as it should be. This time I bluntly replied, I didn’t decide; that’s Arminianism and decisional regeneration, which is heresy. Of course, the unregenerate cannot understand these things. But I continued saying things a liken to. And I didn’t become a Christian. The Lord chose me before the foundation of this world; He begot me as one of His elect. And by His sovereign grace and the monergistic work of the triunity of His Godhead, He granted me faith, repentance, a new birth (born-again Christian). And He gave me new desires of my heart. Because of Him, I am now a new creature in Christ, and a bond slave to Christ. Nonetheless, the Gospel of Christ is the power of God onto salvation (Rom 1:16), not my apologetics.
